In Loving Memory
In gratitude for their lives and faithful service, we remember the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus who have gone before us. Each sister lived with courage, generosity, and deep trust in God, in the spirit of Mary Ward. Here we honour their legacy and commend them to God’s loving embrace, trusting that their light continues to inspire us.
1919 - 2026
Sister Mary Laverty, CJ
The Congregation of Jesus Canada announces with gratitude and faith the birth to eternal life of Sister Mary Laverty CJ on June 11, 2026, in Toronto.
A Sister for 87 years she was a teacher for 25 years and then treasurer of local community houses for another 25 years. She was greatly loved for her quick wit, direct manner of speaking and hidden service. She was always interested in other Sisters, their families, and friends, and willingly prayed for any need asked of her - her 'retirement' ministry.

Sister Maria Lanthier, CJ
The Congregation of Jesus Canada announces with gratitude and faith the birth to eternal life of Sister Maria Lanthier, CJ, on March 22, 2026, in Toronto.
A Sister for 71 years, her ministries included education; founding Arrabon House; serving as Director of Formation; ministry with First Nations people in Sioux Lookout, Northern Ontario; later serving with Women in Need (a Loretto Sisters’ ministry) in Cape Town, South Africa; and decades of involvement in the Loretto Sisters’ refugee resettlement work.

Sister Rosemary Albon, CJ
The Congregation of Jesus Canada announces with gratitude and faith the birth to eternal life of Sister Rosemary Albon, CJ, on Feb. 26, 2026, in Toronto.
A Sister for 66 years, sharing in Mary Ward's mission, she taught in schools, was a Director of Arrabon House (a group home for teenage girls), ministered in Bolivia, was involved in accompanying refugees and immigrants back in Toronto.

Sister Maria Heinrich, CJ
The Congregation of Jesus Canada announces with gratitude and faith the birth to eternal life of Sister Maria Heinrich, CJ, on Feb. 21, 2026, in Toronto.
A Sister for 75 years, she served faithfully in education and pastoral ministry, touching many lives through her creative teaching, joy, resilience and steadfast commitment to Mary Ward's mission. She also taught english to CJ Sisters in her native Hungary.
