The Congregation of Jesus / Loretto Sisters had its beginnings in Canada in 1847. It is a women’s religious congregation dedicated to serving God by enriching the lives of God’s people through works of education, spirituality and justice. In 2026 it has two sponsored ministries (Loretto Maryholme and Mary Ward Centre), and many other individual ministries.
The Congregation of Jesus is civilly incorporated in Canada under the name “The Loretto Ladies’ Colleges and Schools” and is a registered non-profit charitable organization.
Position: Mission, Charism, Vocation Animator
Position Summary
Promotes the mission and charism of the Congregation of Jesus (CJ) to a variety of audiences. Promotes and is the point of contact for those wanting to know more about the life and ministries of the CJ and who may be interested in joining as consecrated religious, associates, and/or volunteers.
Maintains accurate and confidential files, keeping office and materials in an appropriate manner, while managing the ministry expenses and budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
Mission and Charism Animation
Become well versed in the history, spirituality, mission and ministry of the CJ.
Foster embodiment of CJ mission and charism among staff, colleagues, associates, schools, alumnae
Formation of staff, associates, and other partners concerning the mission, charism and spirituality – Mary Ward and Ignatian
Contribute to established opportunities for formation and spiritual development (e.g. Mary Ward Circles, women’s discernment group, Associate Relationship)
Works collaboratively within and without the CJ body. Share resources and approaches.
Promote the CJ in places (e.g. post-secondary, Loretto affiliated high schools, young adult groups) or events
Vocation Animation
Represent the CJ at vocation related events
Identify and participate in planning and carrying out promotion events – internal and external to the CJ.
Consider opportunities for vocation / charism development across North America and within the CJ
Assess an inquirer’s sense of call and how they can best use their gifts and desires to participate in the life and ministry of the CJ
Stay informed of initial formation opportunities across North America and within the CJ

Maintain active membership in TAVDA, Vocations Canada (NAVFD), NRVC.
Identify and request opportunities during annual budget cycle.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
Background in Ignatian spirituality
Pastoral degree preferred
Proven discernment skills
Understanding of the multicultural nature of the CJ membership and outreach
Work collaboratively with other staff, particularly the Executive Director
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Facility with technology and social media.

Full-time (37.5 hours per week), some evening/weekend hours may be required
Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000 plus benefits
Start Date: to be negotiated
